Last Updated On: Dec 29, 2017 by Sowmya Venkatachalam

Jam is one of the favourite dish for many of us, especially for kids. Bread & Jam are best combination dishes. Though nutella & Peanut butter has become so popular, still different fruit jam are still available and many of us like the fruit jam. Basically the fruit is concocted with sugar syrup. It is very easy to make fruit jam at home. Homemade dishes are always healthy and hygienic. Got fresh Raw Mangoes from market, so thought of making Raw mango jam and it turned out awesome. My kids love this homemade Raw Mango Jam. Try this Raw mango jam and enjoy with bread!

Ingredients:
Raw Mango 1
Water  2 Cups*+ 4 cups
Sugar 750gms
Rose Essence 1 teaspoon
Saffron threads 5-6 strands

* 1 Cup = 250ml
Raw Mango Jam

Method:

  1. Wash the mango well. Then peel the skin of the mango. Slice the mango into thin slices
  2. Chop each slice to small pieces. Measure the Chopped mango. If you have 2 cups of chopped mangoes, then you can follow the same sugar and water measurements. If you have more quantity of chopped mangoes, then increase the rest of the ingredients accordingly
  3. Heat 4 cups of water in a sauce pan. Bring it to boil. Switch off the flame. Add the chopped mango pieces and cover the pan with the lid and set it aside for 30 mins
  4. After 30 mins, drain the water from the mango and then spread the mango pieces in a clean white towel. Allow the moisture to get absorbed
  5. In a sauce pan, add 2 cups of water. Add sugar and bring it to boil. Keep stirring the sugar syrup till you get a thin string consistency.
  6. Take a ladle of sugar syrup and add few saffron strands. Stir well and then add saffron mixture to the sugar syrup
  7. When thin string consistency starts to form, then add the dried mango pieces and stir well.
  8. Again bring the mixture to boil and stir in medium flame till you get a thin string consistency
  9. Switch off the flame and add a teaspoon of rose essence and stir well
  10. Allow the jam to come to room temperature. Initially the jam looks little watery but upon cooling it becomes thick like jam consistency.
  11. Store the jam in air tight container and enjoy the Raw Mango Jam with bread !
