Pidi Kozhukattai is a traditional neivedhyam dish we do for Vinayakar Chaturti or even for normal Friday pooja. My MIL makes it surely on Aadi Ammavasai and Aadi Velli. Very simple and quick to make and yet delicious. I used to concoct Pidi kozhukattai along with Thengai Purna kozhukatai as neivedhyam for Lord Vinayaka on Vinayaka Chaturti.

When can we make this Pidi Kozhukattai?

Pidi Kozhukattai is not limited for only festivals. The sweetness in this kozhukattai is not too much and hence we can make this kozhukattai on normal days too for an evening snack. There is not a single unhealthy ingredient in this kozhukattai. Rice flour, jaggery along with moong dal are all healthy and easily digestible. We can make as Prasad for any auspicious occasion.

What Rice Flour to use?

I always have Homemade Rice Flour in my pantry. So I use that homemade rice flour. But we can use Store bought Rice flour too. If we have store bought rice flour at home, then the total time to make this yummy Pidi kozhukattai is just only 15 mins. We need to first dry roast the rice flour till its lightly change in color not too red though. If we use the store bought rice flour without roasting, then the kozhukattai mixture will be so sticky and it will not be cooked properly.
